Catedral de la Ciudad del Cusco
La Catedral. Visitas: L-S 10:00-18:00 y D y F 14:00-18:00.
Su edificación tuvo dos etapas: primero se construyó la Capilla del Triunfo sobre lo que fue el antiguo templo de Suntur Wasi (Casa de Dios); posteriormente se levantó la catedral sobre el palacio del Inca Wiracocha. En la fachada y el interior domina el estilo renacentista, con una decoración interior muy rica en tallas en cedro y aliso. Sobresalen por su belleza el coro y el púlpito. Conserva una colección importante de pinturas de la escuela cusqueña y objetos de plata repujada. |

The building went through two construction stages: first, the Chapel of the Triumph was built on top of what used to be the temple Suntar Wasi (House of God); later, the cathedral itself was built over the remains of the palace of Inca Wiracocha. A Renaissance building in its majority, the interior decoration is rich in cedar and alder woodcarvings. The choir and the pulpit stand out for their beauty. An important collection of paintings from the Cusco School and silver wrought pieces are also kept there.
